'Stand Your Ground' Law Backed by Most Florida Voters

By Marc Caputo, The Miami Herald

Florida is still the gun-shine state.

Though much maligned nationally, the state's Stand Your Ground law at the center of the Trayvon Martin shooting case is well-liked by a majority of Florida voters, according to a new poll conducted by Quinnipiac University.

About 56 percent support the law and 35 percent oppose it, the poll released Thursday shows.

A majority opposes stricter gun-control laws. And a plurality of voters think that Tampa shouldn't be allowed to ban guns during the August Republican National Convention. But one place where an overwhelming majority Florida voters -- 83 percent -- think guns don't belong: the state Capitol.

That last finding drew a chuckle from gun-law critic Chris Smith, a Fort Lauderdale Democratic senator who's trying to amend Stand Your Ground in the wake of the Trayvon shooting.

"Floridians love their guns," he said. "And they love the idea of Stand Your Ground. But when they learn it gives shooters immunity from arrest -- when they learn it gives a tremendous presumption used by gangsters and thugs -- then even my conservative friends think it should be changed."

But the National Rifle Association, which drafted the 2005 law and holds tremendous sway in the Florida Legislature, is fighting any changes to Stand Your Ground. The NRA for years has expanded gun rights and persuaded the Legislature to limit police, prosecutors and employers from controlling, monitoring or cracking down on guns.

The 2005 Stand Your Ground law drew intense scrutiny after 17-year-old Travyon Martin, of Miami Gardens, was shot and killed on Feb. 26 in Sanford as he returned home from a convenience store. George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, was charged with second-degree murder. He claims he shot the teen in self-defense.

Under the law, a person can "meet force with force" and can use deadly force if a person "reasonably" feels he's in mortal peril. The law eliminated a citizen's duty to retreat if confronted in public.

Zimmerman wasn't initially arrested and charged. Police cited Stand Your Ground. A national uproar ensued.

"Despite the controversy, public opinion seems to be solidly behind 'Stand Your Ground' and slightly against stricter gun control," said Peter Brown, assistant director of Quinnipiac's polling institute.

Support for the Stand Your Ground law ran mostly along political party lines, the poll showed. Republicans overwhelmingly support it, 78-15 percent. Independents also support it, 58-35 percent.

Democrats oppose it, 59-32 percent. Men back the law, 65-31 percent, while women favor it, 48-39 percent. Support is 61-31 percent among white voters. Hispanic voters support it, 53-36 percent. Black voters oppose it, 56-30 percent.

The law's strongest support comes from the state's most-rural and conservative areas, North Florida and the Panhandle, where 65 percent favor Stand Your Ground and 30 percent oppose it. The least support was in liberal South Florida, Trayvon's home, where 46 percent favor it and 44 percent oppose it.

Generally, when it comes to gun control, the poll shows 51 percent oppose stricter laws and 45 percent favor them. A narrower segment of the electorate, 49 percent, say Tampa should be allowed to temporarily ban guns during the RNC convention while 46 favor the idea. Voters from the Tampa Bay region are the most-inclined to favor the temporary RNC ban.

State Rep. Dennis Baxley, an Ocala Republican and drafter of the Stand Your Ground bill, said he was comforted with the wide support for gun rights and the specific support for Stand Your Ground.

"It reflects that largely people endorse the idea of self-empowerment and standing with victims of violent attacks," he said.

"We continue to see a reduction in violent crime. These are strong reasons to be very careful when people talk about changing this law."

Rouge Valley gets $144 million to become Canada?s first national park in a city

(Image: Vlad Litvinov)

As the federal government promised nearly a year ago, a massive stretch of the Rouge Valley will become Canada?s first urban national park, with the help of?$144 million in?federal funding. The government will mete the money out over the next decade to create Rouge National Urban Park, a 47-square-kilometre green space bordered by Lake Ontario, Toronto, Markham and Pickering. The exact boundaries of the park haven?t been decided yet, but so far the proposed space is about 15 times larger than Central Park and within easy reach of seven million Canadians?a fifth of the country. At an announcement today, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said the government will seek consultation from the public and hopes the space will be a ?people?s park? (which is convenient, since some parkgoers will soon be taking the ?people?s highway? to get there).?[Globe and Mail]

Review RAP: Guides for word nerds and language wranglers

Words to live and write by

BY RICHARD PACHTER

Word nerds (like me) usually look askance at most tomes on writing and language. After all, pedantic autodidacts and over-educated sesquipedalians already know how to wrangle language and massage messages. Oh, occasionally something like the bestselling Eats Shoots and Leaves catches our collective fancy, but that was merely an amusement, a momentary distraction. Genuine lingo gringos unfailingly poo-poo prosaic word books as beneath them (or us). Unless it's our Bible ? not the Pentateuch, but the Associated Press Stylebook or The Chicago Manual of Style (according to your faith) ? why bother?

Here's a look at the latest edition of the holy word and a recent would-be contender.

Stylebook and Briefing on Media Law. Associated Press/BasicBooks. 465 pages. (Also available by online subscription and as an app for mobile devices.)

I've never heard it called by its proper name, but the "AP Style Guide'' is used by businesses and publications throughout the country. This new version caused a bit of a buzz when it was announced that "Website'' would no longer be capitalized. Trust me, this was a very big deal, though "Internet'' inexplicably remains capitalized. (Huh?) But a technical writer of my acquaintance was VERY excited about this quantum leap, as if her world was now a brighter and happier place. Such is the power of this humble volume!

This resource is used in newspapers throughout the English-speaking world as an authority on usage, punctuation, abbreviation and more. It's also a fixture in the dens and cubicles of Anglophone business writers and other scribblers throughout the planet seeking authoritative guidance in their use of language for legal writing, ads and marketing communications material.

This new edition of the Stylebook is also available online (by subscription, with site licenses and individual deals, too.) In addition, an app (a recent addition to the Stylebook, apparently) for iPhones, iPads and iPods is also offered. These electronic versions afford immediate access to updates, so if the AP ever decides to allow "Internet'' in lowercase, subscribers will be the first to know.

The Yahoo! Style Guide: Writing and Editing for the Web. Chris Barr. St.Martin's Press. 528 pages.

Though Google rules search, Yahoo's strategy of providing actual content as part of their souffl? of search and aggregation is still in place. As such, they've become a bit of an authority on content creation, and their style guide is a very nice grab bag of tools, ideas and instructions. A lot of it is Copywriting 101-level fare; a far cry from AP's no-nonsense journalism, but even the most recalcitrant news-o will admit that writing for the Web requires a sharp, punchy prose style that's more tabloid than "Times,'' though accuracy and clarity still reign. It might be less hyperbolic than copywriting, but it still needs to sell ? itself, at the very least.

For many writers, this style guide won't be anything new and it's certainly no replacement for AP's collection of golden standards, but for neophytes and others, this is a fine course.

Bill Burton - Texas Hold'em A to Z: S is for Slowplaying

In Texas Holdem you are not trying to win a lot of pots. You're trying to win the most money. In fact the player who wins the most pots will usually be a losing player because they are playing too many hands. Two ways you can increase the money you win is with the slowplaying and check-raising. Both of these tactics have sometimes been referred to as "sandbagging" (especially in home games) but there is nothing underhanded about either tactic. It is an acceptable practice used by smart players to maximize their winnings.

Slowplaying is when you play a strong hand weakly by checking or calling, instead of betting or raising, to deceive your opponents. When you slow play you're trying to entice the other players to bet or give them a chance to draw into a hand that will be second best.

For example, after the flop if all the players checked to you and you check because you think everybody will fold if you bet, you are essentially giving them a free card. You are hoping that the next card will improve your opponent's hand but not enough to beat yours.

When you slowplay you are trying to set a trap for the other players, but sometimes this can backfire on you. You must know when and when not to slow play a hand. To be successful:

  • Your hand must be very strong.
  • There is a good chance that everyone would fold if you bet.
  • It is unlikely the free card will give the player a hand that will beat you.
  • There are not a lot of players in the hand and the pot is small.

Example: You raise before the flop with Ace of hearts and Jack of spades. You get two callers and the flop is: Ace and Jack Diamonds and Jack of clubs.

You have a full house and unless someone holds the other two aces (which is unlikely because you probably would have been re-raised) you have the best hand. A player with K-Q, K-T, or Q-T has a straight draw. In this situation you don't mind checking and giving a free card.

If it is bet and there are players still to act after you, just call since a raise may drive out the other players. You are hoping that someone makes a hand that will be second best to your full house. You will also get action from anyone holding a single Ace who made top pair or a Jack who has just made trips.

Mistakes

One of the biggest mistakes that many players make is to slowplay before the flop with pocket Aces and Kings. Instead of raising they just call with their big pocket pairs and then complain when they get beat by someone who would have folded if they had raised. Big pocket pairs play best against a small field so you raise to narrow the field. If you are in early or middle position and decide to slowplay your hand, it could be a costly mistake. If you merely call with AA, you are allowing everyone into the hand for a single bet. The more players in the hand, the more likely it is that one of them will flop a hand that can beat you.

Slowplaying can be a valuable tactic but many players use it too often when they flop a good, but not great hand such as top pair, two pairs, three of a kind or a set. Many players will decide to slowplay a set rather than bet it. If there are two suited cards or a straight draw on the board, chances are somebody will be chasing a flush or a straight. In the long run you will make more money by just betting your set rather than trying to slowplay your set. It is always better to a rake in a small pot than to lose it completely by giving your opponent the chance to draw out on you.

As with any other strategy in poker, you first have to analyze the situation and be aware of which opponents may be chasing before you slowplay a hand. You don't want to give free cards to players who could beat you and turn what would have been a small win into a major loss.

I?m an ancestor collector and this blog is for my research on my family lines. There?s always room for one more relative!

I?m Eowyn.

And I like love dead people. I know?weird right?

They fascinate me.? I love learning their stories about who they were and where they came from.

For me, every time I find an ancestor it?s like finding a little piece of my own puzzle.? I was adopted when I was a baby but about 8 years ago I found my biological mother.? I?ve been so blessed to be able to learn about both my biological and adoptive ancestors.? It?s helped me understand that I?m a part of something so much bigger and more beautiful than just myself.

I first got into Genealogy when I was about 14 years old (twenty years ago).? My mother was a volunteer at a local family history library and I would go with her and hang out and research the family.? That was back in the day when everything was still on microfiche and microfilm and we wrote out pedigree charts and family group sheets by hand.

As I got older, I got busier with other life things and for awhile genealogy was pushed to the side.? Several years ago however, I felt that tug to start looking for family again and dove back into the research.? I?ve been working as a professional genealogist for about three years now and LOVE it. I love the mystery, the history, putting together the pieces of the puzzle and helping other people discover their ancestors and where they came from.

As far as research goes I specialize in the United States, England, Scotland and Germany.

http://www.baylissline.blogspot.com
Blog type: Individual family history, UK genealogy

This blog has been created for my family. By ?my family? I mean all those who are related to the Bayliss family either by blood, marriage or even relationship. There are, of course, other Bayliss families not related to us but this blog has at its heart a very specific family who had their origins in Gloucestershire. I am connected to that family because my mother was a Bayliss and it was her curiosity that started my research back in the early 1990?s.

So, what are you likely to see on this blog? Well, as it is a blog, I want it to be as entertaining as possible rather that a dry listing of facts (that is for Ancestry.com). I will, hopefully, be posting entries on our ancestors and relatives, on the places where they lived, and the historical times they lived through. I have an extensive collection of photographs of people and places which I will, of course, be sharing.

I?d like to ask anybody who reads this blog to give me some feedback. I?d really like this to be a two way thing. It sometimes unearths new information and, to be honest, it gives me encouragement. There will be two ways of providing feedback ? either through the comment button (you will need a Google account for this) or via the e-mail address which appears on this page ? alternatively, ring me. Now scroll down to read the latest entries.

The History Interpreter
http://thehistoryinterpreter.wordpress.com
Blog type: Professional genealogist blog, UK genealogy

The Jesuits say ?give me a child until they are seven and I will show you the man?, or woman of course. When I was seven I spent my time making up impossibly large families in ?my famerley book? (spelling was not a strong point). I also wrote long stories or played complicated, extended games of schools. Although I enjoyed ?dressing up?, I hadn?t yet started donning period costume but most other aspects of my current life were there in embryonic form.

Although I have, I hope, a reputation as an academic historian, I believe good history is for everyone. As The History Interpreter, I aim to bring history alive in a variety of ways. I spend two or three days a week as my alter ego Mistress Agnes living in the seventeenth century at Torrington 1646. Here, I impart information about life in the time of the English Civil War to tourists and school children. On occasions, I swap centuries and appear as a Victorian. I am passionate about encouraging young people to become interested in history, especially through living history or family history. My main focus is on social history and the day to day lives of ordinary people, particularly women.

I enjoy dissecting small, rural communities and trying to understand how they functioned in the past. In this respect, I maintain my own archives for the North Devon villages of Buckland Brewer, Bucks Mills and Bulkworthy and I am now the project manager of the Clovelly Community Archive project. No, I am not working my way through the alphabet!

I work closely with historical organisations in my home county of Devon and The Isle of Wight Family History Society have done me the honour of appointing me their President. As historian for The Braund Family History Society I have immersed myself in the origins, genealogy and biography of this west country family and have written several books about them. I also research my own family history, with an emphasis on putting their lives into a wider context.

This is a fledgling website, more will be added shortly. Please check back for updates.

China on the capitalist road

China Daily, the largest English-language newspaper in China, carried a front-page headline last week: "Village Gratitude Shows Integrity of Task."

Not clear what that's about, and the opening sentence isn't much help: "On a hot afternoon, Zhou Yi picked up a bag of freshly boiled eggs that had been left on the doorstep of the committee office in Chaqulak village in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region." I figured this must be some feel-good story about the noble, uncorrupted country folk taking care of the less fortunate in their midst.

But read on. Zhou Yi is not a homeless man dependent on the generosity of his fellow peasants who have little enough for themselves, etc. He is one of a group of "regional-level officials sent to live in Chaqulak as part of an initiative to provide officials with firsthand experience of working at the grass-roots." The officials were grateful for the eggs. Apparently they don't get a per diem.

A program to send bureaucrats into the countryside to see what real work is like? It's possible the story is not so simple, and maybe China Daily has an agenda here. But it sure sounds like what went on during Mao Tse-tung's Cultural Revolution of 1966-76, doesn't it? The founding editor of China Daily himself spent nine years doing menial work on a farm somewhere before he was allowed to return to Beijing.

I thought that stuff didn't happen anymore. In 1979, just three years after the Cultural Revolution collapsed, Deng Xiaoping reversed course and China started down the capitalist road, with stunning results that any visitor can see: small towns converted into huge cities with millions of people living in high-rises, driving cars (or taking new subways); choking on pollution but nevertheless happy to be enjoying the fruits of a free-market economy.

And yet the Communist Party retains absolute political power (although there are now real elections at the village level, with multiple candidates and all the fixin's). In fact, the party takes credit for reforming the economy, and may even deserve it.

So how does all this fit together? How free is the average Chinese citizen? How much communism is left in the Communist Party? Will free-market capitalism inevitably lead to democracy? Or have the Chinese discovered some new Confucian synthesis of free markets and authoritarian rule?

These are the kind of questions that an American visitor to China will naturally have. And after eight days there (in a small group of journalists whose way was paid by a foundation funded by a Hong Kong billionaire), I now have all the answers.

Actually, whatever insights I may have gained during my visit came mostly from reading James Fallows' new book, "China Airborne," on the plane coming home. Fallows spent several years in China with the explicit and full-time purpose of trying to understand it. He writes that to talk about China (population 1.3 billion) as a single entity is absurd:

"When acting on the international stage, or when imposing some internal political rules, the central government can operate as a coordinated entity. But most of the time, visitors ? and Chinese people too ? see vividly and exclusively the little patch of 'China' that is in front of them, with only a guess as to how representative it might be of happenings anywhere else."

Fortunately, while Fallows was learning about China firsthand, I was in Washington taking an advanced course in guesswork at the National Punditry Institute. So here is my best guess about China: More than two decades after the fall of the Berlin Wall, it's pretty well established that freedom and democracy really are universal appetites. Everybody wants them, with no special exemption for Asian cultures.

But would you give up your right to vote in exchange for a job in the city, indoor plumbing, a TV? That's what many Chinese people believe their country is doing: moving slowly in introducing democracy in order not to interfere with the mad dash to capitalism.

The Chinese are still ruled by a regime that killed millions in defense of a philosophy it no longer believes in. But now it rules with a lighter, and somewhat whimsical touch.

An older dissident type told us that young adults didn't even know about the events 23 years ago in Tiananmen Square. We asked a bunch of college students. They giggled and snorted: Of course they knew about Tiananmen Square. Would they write about it in the school paper? More snorting: Of course not. They seemed perfectly comfortable with the anomaly, maybe because they think it won't last.

Even more comfortable was a huge manufacturing firm that had set up a series of inspirational posters near the front door. Most of them were filled with business school babble about corporate culture. In this environment, one poster about the important role of the Communist Party stood out. And in fact the party had supplied funds to get this company started. In every other respect, it seemed like a big company anywhere in the capitalist world. (And I was there for more than 45 minutes, listening to a discussion in a foreign language, so I know.)

The best-known bit of totalitarian-style repression in China is the notorious "one child" policy. It is still the rule, but it is enforced somewhat sporadically. If you are an only child of your parents, you yourself may have more than one. Some people who can afford it just pay the fine as a cost of having children. And meanwhile China faces a shortage of working-age people to support a growing number of old folks. So even putting ethical issues aside, the whole thing looks like a mistake. It won't last.

Yes, the Chinese Communist Party continues to do terrible things, as the case of Chen Guangcheng demonstrates. But the party also seems to function as sort of a Rotary Club that you join if you want to get ahead in China's raucous, utterly non-communist economy.

Brad Pitt - Jennifer Aniston Relationship Undermined by Incorrect ...

Posted on May 24, 2012

Speculation continues around the break-up of Brad Pitt as well as Jennifer Aniston, and what part Angelina Jolie may have enjoyed. At least three distinctive rumors are becoming more common as to what may have been the cause.

Rumors of an Extramarital Affair

One gossip has it that Pitt and co-star Angelina Jolie ended up having an affair. This gossip began circulating very last May, when Pitt was photographed holding Jolie?s present on the set despite the fact that filming Mr. & Mrs. Mason. They both denied there was any romance.

Your Recipe for Emotionally charged Infidelity

?Even if the gossip of an extramarital extramarital relationship are untrue,? says author along with infidelity expert Ruth Dallas, ?it highlights the danger of the wrong friendships with members of the opposite sex. This can lead to over emotional infidelity, which is often any precursor to sex-related infidelity?. Problems can develop if your friendship is conducted from the view or without the knowledge of the other fighter?s marriage mate. Matters usually start with someone the wayward other half knows and comes in contact with on a regular basis.

Workplace Extramarital relationships

According to one study, 73% of infidelity begins in the workplace. Friendships this start out innocently ample progress to emotional infidelity and eventually increase to extrrrramarital extramarital liasons. Says Houston, ?This is whether the workplace is usually a movie set or even office environment. And work environment affairs are on the growth.? Anytime a couple of the opposite sex are in close proximity on a regular basis for more periods of time, the potential for sentimental infidelity exists. Just about all that?s needed to take this to the next level is intimate chemistry and opportunity. ?Even if the intense year-long a friendly relationship between Pitt and Jolie wouldn?t take a sexual switch,? says Dallas, ?they were treading on damaging ground.?

When Opposite Sex Friendships Turned into a Problem

Time expended by a husband by using a ?friend? of the opposite sex ?s time spent away from her wife, unless they will include her from the activities taking place ?Even if there?s no sex required,? explains Dallas, ? emotional connection occurs, and in no time, infidelity is rearing its ugly mind.? Opposite sex relationships become a problem once they become a replacement for wedding ceremony. When one marriage mate starts posting hopes, dreams, special moments and romantic information with an women in your life ?friend? instead of their other half, a bond evolves which has infidelity possible. Houston warns, ?All it will take for the situation in order to spiral out of control and unfaithfulness to occur is an environment of secrecy, sexual chemical make up, and the opportunity issue. Even if an affair was not the original intention.?

Arguments In excess of Starting a Family

Another rumor has this that constant reasons between Pitt and Anniston above the issue of starting a family were any contributing factor to the split. Pitt, 41, is usually anxious to start a family group, while Aniston, 35, is usually reluctant to do so within the expense of her performing career. During the shooting of Mr. & Mrs. Cruz, Angelina Jolie brought her 3-year-old adopted son, Maddox to the set every day in addition to Pitt enjoyed spending time with the little boy. Their distance caused him to check Aniston unfavorably with Jolie, by pointing out for you to her that Jolie, that?s 6 years the younger, has successfully blended motherhood with her appearing career.

A Marriage ?Ripe? for the Affair

Regarding the friendly relationship that developed concerning Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie ? if there was problems in the wedding, however minor, that it was a bad time to style a close relationship along with someone of the opposite sex ? even if of which friendship was celibate. It doesn?t take significantly for such a relationship to make the passage from emotional to sexual infidelity. Dallas observes, ?If there are key problems between couples, that marriage is definitely ?ripe? for an affair. Considering the right (or improper) set of circumstances, infidelity could be just a ?friendship? aside.?

Telephone Sexual intercourse

Still a third gossip has it which Pitt and Jolie, called one another constantly on the phone. Purportedly Jennifer Aniston listened in during one conversation (either by chance or deliberately) along with heard Pitt and Jolie experiencing telephone sex. ?If the actual rumor about phone sex is true,? says Houston, and then Pitt?s friendship with Jolie got already crossed the series ? even if cell phone sex was as much as it went.? Frequent lunches, dinners out, meetings, or calls with the ?friend? that a loved one ?forgets? or neglects to say, have a way of alienating one?s marriage spouse.

Denials All Around

Angelina Jolie has got denied any responsibility for the Pitt ? Aniston divide. Both Pitt and Aniston ourselves have publicly waived that a third party was involved. Even Folks magazine said any friendship between Pitt and also Jolie never reached the aim of an affair. Throughout ?Jennifer?s My Space Blog? Aniston proclaimed, ?The tabloid stories wasn?t true, no one was initially cheating, no one seemed to be carousing around town, it just have not out.?

Jolie Direct or Indirectly To blame

Says Ruth Houston, ?The bottom line to all the gossips and speculation is the following: It appears that either direct or indirectly, Jennifer aniston, contributed to the break-up of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Regardless of whether her only position was to prompt Pitt to make unfavorable comparisons between Aniston and Jolie.?

This Lesson

Whatever the the reality is concerning Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston as well as Angelina Jolie, the session is clear: Avoid opposite sex http://www.moviesinfohub.com/angelina- jolie friendships that come to be very close in addition to exclude your partner and also marriage mate. They?re able to lead to emotional mistrust. Houston cautions ?If intimate chemistry and the opportunity factor are also part of the amalgamation, sexual infidelity http://www.moviesinfohub.com/adam- sandler most likely are not far behind. In

Women Love: Save Marriage Secrets with Save My Marriage Today

This article is brought to you by Women Love

Hi there,

I get the opportunity to review a lot of products that come across my desk, so its easy to lose interest in a lot of what I see. That was, until recently when I met Amy Waterman. Amy, online author of Save My Marriage Today Asked me to have a look over her course and tell her what I thought. At first I was skeptical, but I thought, hey, I have friends who are in bad marriages, and this information might be good for one of them, so I decided to read it closely and see what insights it could offer me about reconnecting and improving relationships.

You can check it out at www.savemymarriagetoday.com?

By the time I had finished, I was hooked! I realized for the first time, that this book would be absolutely essential for couples who are serious about solving their marital difficulties, and I don?t just mean young couples either. This book applies to couples young and old. No matter what your marriage situation, if you are male or female, or how many years you have been married, there are tips and tools that can assist every couple with developing sound communication and conflict resolution techniques.

Everybody knows someone who is in a difficult or failing marriage, or it may even be you.....

Nobody said marriage was ever going to be easy, and if they did, they were lying. It?s perfectly normal in a marriage to have disagreements and times when things involve a little more effort than they used to. In an ideal world we would sit and talk about these changes and differences in a calm and rational manner, and establish an outcome and move on. Unfortunately things don't always work like that. Its all too easy to get caught up in the moment and let things deteriorate to the point where you are both wondering why you are still in it.

Amy has developed a course that encourages couples to break the ice and develop ways to interact and strengthen their failing relationship. She deals with topics such as:

Tips on how to rescue your marriage

How to reintroduce passion

How to repair your marriage after an affair

Self assessment

Gestures that are more important than words

And much, much more....

My first impression of the course was how well laid out it is, in neat, graphically designed ebooks. This is someone who takes their craft seriously and I am immediately confident that I have purchased a professional course that takes both me and my marriage seriously.

I was also pretty impressed with the content, not only with the theory but the accompanying exercises at the end of many chapters that helped cement the concepts and apply it to real life marriages.

The other thing that impressed me is the sheer volume of information, both in the two main Save My Marriage Today ebooks, but also the accompanying bonus ebooks as well. In total it is one of the most comprehensive marriage saving courses I have seen assembled!

Over 2 million couples divorce every year, and many of those could have been avoided if those couples communicated and applied the techniques that Amy shows us in her life-changing course. She can?t work miracles and save every marriage, but if you are serious about resurrecting the love you once had for your partner and saving your marriage, you should maximize your chances and read and apply the relationship advice that Amy has to offer.

Amy is able to identify where you have been going wrong, and shows you how to avoid those crucial mistakes that actually jeopardize your chances of saving your failing marriage.

In addition to this she has included a free email consultation so that customers can discuss any specific problems or further clarification that the course doesn't already cover.

I really do believe Amy is onto a good thing here, and she really can help you save your marriage!

The techniques she reveals are thought provoking and have been proven over and over to help save marriages. I was very impressed when I finished reading this material and have recommended it to everyone I know.

But don't take my word for it, see for yourself! Take a look at:

I promise you won't be disappointed, and best of all, it could turn your life around. For a fraction of the cost of a counselor, you can save your marriage!

All the best,

Andraldri

Thousands of invisibility cloaks trap a rainbow

ScienceDaily (May 25, 2012) ? Many people anticipating the creation of an invisibility cloak might be surprised to learn that a group of American researchers has created 25,000 individual cloaks.

But before you rush to buy one from your local shop, the cloaks are just 30 micrometres in diameter and are laid out together on a 25 millimetre gold sheet.

This array of invisibility cloaks is the first of its kind and has been created by researchers from Towson University and University of Maryland who present their study on May 25, in the Institute of Physics and German Physical Society's New Journal of Physics.

Although the well-reported intention to make everyday objects disappear with a Harry Potter-style cloak is beyond this array of cloaks, they could be used to slow down, or even stop, light, creating what is known as a "trapped rainbow."

The trapped rainbow could be utilised in tiny biosensors to identify biological materials based on the amount of light they absorb and then subsequently emit, which is known as fluorescence spectroscopy. Slowed-down light has a stronger interaction with molecules than light travelling at normal speeds, so it enables a more detailed analysis.

Lead author of the study, Dr Vera Smolyaninova, said: "The benefit of a biochip array is that you have a large number of small sensors, meaning you can perform many tests at once. For example, you could test for multiple genetic conditions in a person's DNA in just one go.

"In our array, light is stopped at the boundary of each of the cloaks, meaning we observe the trapped rainbow at the edge of each cloak. This means we could do 'spectroscopy on-a-chip' and examine fluorescence at thousands of points all in one go."

The 25 000 invisibility cloaks are uniformly laid out on a gold sheet, with each having a microlens that bends light around itself, effectively hiding an area in its middle. As the light squeezes through the gaps between each of the cloaks, the different components of light, or colours, are made to stop at ever narrower points, creating the rainbow.

To construct the array of invisibility cloaks, a commercially available microlens array, containing all of the individual microlenses, was coated with a gold film. This was then placed, gold-side down, onto a glass slide which had also been coated with gold, creating a double layer. A laser beam was directed into the array to test performance of the cloaks at different angles.

The researchers believe that this type of array could also be used to test the performance of individual invisibility cloaks, especially in instances where they may be positioned close together. In this study, for example, the cloaks worked very well when light was shone along the rows; however, when it was shone at different angles, imperfections were clearly visible.
